Indoor Yard Sale - after the sale
Indoor Yard Sale - After the Sale
We had a very good day. Prior to the week of the sale we had not decided what we were working for, but God (this is one my favorite sayings) did know. Midway is a small church with a huge heart and everyone worked very hard, just because they were asked to. And then we were given the answer - Nene needed us. We have known her most of her young life as Nene, but she is growing up and wants to be called Eve.
Eve has Cystic Fibrosis and has gone through more than the average person does in a life time already. She's maintained an "A" school average even though she has to go to Atlanta every two month for treatments that take two weeks. The Sunday after the yard sale, Eve, with her family, went to Texas for tests to see if she qualifies for a lung transplant.
As we all know, travleing is very expensive and the family had to go, because they have to go through counciling with her. We were able to give the family a check for $1124. I'd love to say we raised that much with the yard sale, but no - we did raise around $800 with the sell items, sweets, and diner items (biscuits, sausage, and chili dogs) and people were wonderful in letting us "keep the change", plus there were donations placed in the special jars during the sale.
The giving didn't stop on Saturday, by the time Eve left to go to Texas more had been given.
Also, we had gotten word on Saturday that Eve's dad had been laid off. What little money we were able to give them became even more special to them. God is good ... all the time! He is looking out for our special girl and He is helping us to be part of her life. Thanks be to God!
Lesson learned: We must be prepared to give and we must be prepared to accept, both are from God and both should be done graciously.
